Keyword discovery is not always successful at matching content to ads because many words have additional meanings. This is called polysemy, and it is hard to determine using keywords alone.

Now we define the relevance score of an ad ai and page pi as a convex combination of the keyword (syntactic) and classification (semantic) score:
